Saba, The Unspoiled Queen

Saba, (population 1,824; 5 square miles), is the smallest “public entity” of the Netherlands and boasts the highest point (Mount Scenery, 877 m) within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Although Dutch is the official language, English is the island’s main language. The US dollar became its official currency in 2011. On December 4, 2012, Saba celebrated the first official gay marriage in the Dutch Caribbean. However, the “Unspoilt Queen” is more popular for its eco-tourism, scuba diving, climbing and hiking.
