Building Stronger Communities: SXM Airport Empowers Young Local Talent!

SIMPSONBAY July 4, 2023 - PJIAE (Princess Juliana International Airport) is proud to announce its participation in the Department of Youth - Business Outreach & Placement Program (BOP) 2023. As part of our corporate responsibility and commitment to giving back to the community, we are taking under our wings the talented students of our island, providing them with valuable training opportunities and a memorable experience that aims to "Inspire, Educate & Empower."

Throughout the summer holidays, PJIAE will engage our local youth in a positive and constructive manner, offering them an opportunity to become familiar with the world of work. By participating in this program, we hope to make a significant social impact while fulfilling our Corporate Social Responsibility to St. Maarten.

Eight BOP students began on Monday, July 3, 2023, at the SXM airport and will conclude on Friday, July 28, 2023. PJIAE management is thrilled to welcome eight students, fostering their growth and development by equipping them with practical skills and knowledge. Through this initiative, PJIAE aims to instill a sense of pride and empowerment in the future leaders of our community. During the program, the students will be immersed in various aspects of airport operations, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to different roles and responsibilities. From customer service to airport operations, students will have the chance to learn from industry professionals and expand their horizons.

“By investing in our local talent, PJIAE is paving the way for a brighter future. We believe that by nurturing the skills and potential of our youth, we can create a stronger, more vibrant community. Through this partnership with the Department of Youth, we aim to foster a culture of excellence and provide opportunities for personal growth for students by taking part in the BOP program” says HR Director, Miguela Gumbs.

PJIAE extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Youth for being able to take part in their program. Together, we are building a stronger foundation for the next generation, empowering them to shape the future of our island.
